Anonymous benefactor will match every dollar donated for the Philadelphia Reporting and Benefit Event

The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia is pleased to announce that an anonymous benefactor has committed to matching every dollar donated for the Philadelphia Reporting and Benefit Event on October 5, up to $100,000, for the "Healing of the Wounds of War in Ukraine Fund." This matching gift will be activated if the Archeparchy’s annual Reporting and Benefit Event in Philadelphia (to be held on October 5 at 5:30) successfully raises an equal amount—$100,000—to support the Archeparchy’s core activities and ministries.

This initiative means that every dollar contributed during the event will have double the effect—fortifying the essential work of the Archeparchy while also providing critical aid to those suffering from the ongoing war in Ukraine.

His Excellency, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, underscored the importance of this opportunity:

"The need in Ukraine is immense. I write this actually from the Mykolayiv region only 25 miles from the front lines. During my visits to the country, I have witnessed firsthand how deeply people appreciate every bit of pur support. Our Archeparchy led the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the US initiative—Metropolia Humanitarian Aid Fund—in raising and distributing over $7 million to assist the wounded, refugees, internally displaced persons, and church structures in eastern Ukraine. Two years later, we have refocused on healing the physical, emotional, and spiritual wounds of the war with the launch of a new fund in February 2024. However, to sustain this vital work, our own structures and ministries must also be strong. With the help of this generous donor, we can overcome the perceived choice between helping Ukraine and supporting the Church. Every dollar donated to the Archeparchy will be matched and directed to assist Ukraine."

The event will take place on October 5th at Cathedral Hall on Franklin Street. It will include a keynote address by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, reporting on recent developments within the Archeparchy, a dinner catered by The Choice Restaurant, musical performances by the Philadelphia Funk Authority, and a silent auction of Ukrainian and diaspora artists.

All are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to double their impact and help both the Church and the suffering people of Ukraine.
