90th Annual Ukrainian Seminary Day: A Celebration of Faith and Solidarity

Primrose, PA - On July 28, 2024, the 90th annual Ukrainian Seminary Day was held near Minersville in Primrose, Pennsylvania. The event brought together twelve surrounding parishes to raise funds for St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Seminary. The celebration began with a Divine Liturgy led by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak in St. Nicholas Hall.

"Our faith can grow. But how are you going to measure your faith? How many miles, how many pounds, how many tons? We can't have big faith in terms of size or scale. Our faith becomes strong and effective when we believe in the true Lord," said the Archbishop in his homily. "Moving mountains can happen in our home, in our kitchen, family, or at our place of work if we can be people of faith who see the true God and accept his love and his grace."

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear a short address from Fr. Brian Kolodeychuk, a close collaborator of Saint Mother Teresa. He explored the notion of sainthood and living a saintly life in ordinary circumstances.

A special guest at the event was Archbishop-Emeritus of Kharkiv, Ihor Isichenko, who shared his testimony from a city constantly bombarded by Russian forces. He urged attendees to pray, saying, "And when you pray, don't forget to remember Ukraine, my people, who are on the front line of confrontation with the barbaric dictatorships of the East and have been on the defensive for ten years. They are protecting not only Ukraine but the entire world civilization. Our soldiers protect both Europe and the USA, because the aggressive intentions of the Russians extend to the whole world."
