Chief Financial Officer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reports, company audits, compliance, and bank relationships. They will collaborate with the Archbishop and the chancery leadership team to make decisions regarding the Archeparchy's financial strategy. The candidate will possess a strong background in finance and management.

Responsibilities

The main task of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia is to oversee and lead the everyday as well as long term finances and other temporalities of the Archeparchy. This leadership position includes responsibility for effective risk management and planning the Archeparchy’s financial strategy including building models, analyzing data, and preparing statements to reconcile income with expenses, to keep track of earnings and projected cash flow.

The CFO will report to the Archbishop but will work closely with the Vicar General and the Chief-of-Staff on a daily basis.

The CFO will be responsible for both the financial office of the Archeparchy as well as the Development office.

The finance office is responsible for paying bills, running payroll, managing property insurance for the Archeparchy (including the parishes) and healthcare insurance (also for the priests), and managing existing funds, trusts, accounts, and investments. The officer would be responsible for forecasting the organization's financial standing based on financial and operational data and reports provided by the finance/accounting team.

The development office is responsible for managing the donor database, inputting donations, running fundraising campaigns, and applying and managing grants for the Archeparchy. The development office is also responsible for fundraising events

The CFO will be expected to create comprehensive annual budgets with all the departments as well as plan for expected grants or large donations.

Qualifications

  • Strong finance-based analytical skills
  • 7 - 10 years' of finance experience
  • CPA or MBA preferred but not required

Director of Development

The ideal candidate will be an outgoing relationship-builder that is responsible for all partnerships and fundraising related to the organization. 

The development position in the Archeparchy of Philadelphia is split into two large categories. The first being grant management. This includes grant applications, grant reports, and project management for grants received. The second category is donor relations. This includes managing donor relations and updating the donor database, establishing fundraising campaigns, overseeing mailings, and fundraising event management. Below is a quick list of some of these activities:

  • Annual Appeal - Manage Annual Appeal.
  • Direct Mailings - Design and manage several mass mailings as well as smaller, directed mailings.
  • Major Donor Relations - Manage donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations, including prospect research and major gift solicitations. 
  • Planned Giving – Create and implement a comprehensive, dynamic giving program for major gifts and planned giving. Plan programs and design materials focused on planned giving.
  • Grants - Research foundations, develop grant proposals, and cultivate relationships with foundations and corporations.
  • Online Giving - Manage the Archeparchy’s online giving program. 
  • Communications – Manage development communications: produce content for newsletters, Archeparchial website, and press releases. 
  • Special Events and Projects - Plan special events and manage special projects. 
  • Campaigns - Create endowment and capital campaigns (future).
  • Administration - Maintain software and systems to support all fundraising operations: data entry, database management, donor correspondence (acknowledgements, thank you letters, etc.), and all related records and files.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or equivalent
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Fundraising experience (preferred)
  • Grant writing experience (preferred)
