Fr. Ruslan Borovyi represented the Archeparchy at Meeting of the Pastoral Council of the Patriarchal Curia of the UGCC in Fatima

From November 4 to 8, Fatima, Portugal, hosted a meeting of the Pastoral Council of the Patriarchal Curia of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church (UGCC). Representing the Philadelphia Archeparchy was Fr. Ruslan Borovyi.

The Pastoral Council is responsible for coordinating the pastoral activities of the Curia and ensuring the effective implementation of the decrees and decisions of the Synod of Bishops of the UGCC.

This year, the meeting gathered more than 30 priest representatives and 5 bishops from various countries, including Ukraine, Europe, and North and South America. The head of the Pastoral Council is Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski, Bishop of the Holy Family Eparchy based in London, United Kingdom.

The main theme of this year’s conferences was “kerygma,” which basically means “proclamation” — the initial announcement of the Good News of God’s love for the world. The central question addressed throughout the meeting was: “How can we proclaim the kerygma effectively today?” Proclaiming the Gospel involves making Jesus Christ and His Divine Love present in the world, which deeply desires to encounter God.

Throughout the meeting, participants had the opportunity to attend Divine Liturgies, Vespers, the Rosary prayer, and a solemn procession at the site of the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Fatima.

“This gathering marked an important step in strengthening unity and cooperation among the clergy of the UGCC at the international level, aimed at fostering a deeper understanding and realization of the Church’s mission in the modern world”, noted fr Ruslan.
