West Easton parish hosts Summer Church Camp

Holy Ghost Church in West Easton hosted it’s annual Summer Church camp July 16-20.2018. Sixteen happy campers joined with the pastor, seminarian Bohdan Vasyliv, and Sherry Bellfy for a chance to make memories.  The Theme for this year’s camp was” The Law of God : Love one another as I have loved you.”” The children ranging from 5 years old to 14 enjoyed exercise, instructions on how to live by God’s laws, prayer and meditation, arts and crafts and delicious lunches served  by JoAnn Fulmer and Judy Palinkas.

A day trip to visit our seminary of St Josaphat in Washington DC, our Ukrainian Catholic National Shrine of the Holy Family, and a wonderful visit wit

h Bishop John Bura and Fr Robert Hitchens was the beginning of a great day in our nations capital.  We proceeded to the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and then downtown to visit the Smithsonian and the national monuments along the Mall area.  The children learned in the process, that law’s aren’t made to bind us but to help us live in freedom, with love and respect for one another, and in safety.

The week concluded with the infamous “Water Day” where, on a hot summer’s day, water slides, water balloon and egg tosses make for a very wet and fun festival to end the week.

If you are interested in hosting a summer camp for the children in the parish, please contact Fr Dan Troyan at holyghostukr@outlook.com.

He’ll be glad to provide you with a step by step guide to get one started in your own parish.
