The majority of the parishoners came from Lemko region around Sinok and from district of Sambir and Zalischyny. Most of them found work in the local mining industries. The initiators of buying a church in Hazleton: John Radynsky, Theodore Polivka, Wassil Slecton, Josaphat Kasian, Andrew Pelehach, Semen Slecton. The church was established in 1910. The faithful parishioners petitioned His Excellency, the Most Rev. Soter Ortynsky, OSBM, the first Ukrainian Bishop in the US to incorporate the newly formed parish into the Ukrainian Catholic Diocese of Philadelphia.
