“We appeal to you not as politicians nor strategists. We entreat you as persons of faith in God: ‘Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.’ (Ps 125:1) As pastors we appeal to you and to all people of good will to pray for peace and justice in Ukraine.” Excerpted from the recent appeal of the Ukrainian Catholic Bishops of the United States to pray for peace in Ukraine.
In response to the recent appeal of the UGCC’s bishops in the United States, the faithful gathered around our Archeparchy for prayer.
On Monday and Tuesday, February 14 and 15, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception held Moleben to the Mother of God. In addition, the Cathedral was opened for private prayers during those days.
From February 13-15, St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Wilmington also held Moleben to the Mother of God.
On February 14 the faithful prayed for peace and an end to the war in Ukraine at the Ukrainian National Shrine of the Holy Family in Washington, DC.
Then on Wednesday, February 16, at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Perth Amboy, parishioners prayed to the Mother of God for peace in Ukraine. The church was also open Monday through Wednesday for private prayer of all people.
On Tuesday, February 15, three families (six parents and 18 children) gathered at Ss Joachim and Anna in Front Royal, Virginia, to conclude the three-day prayer vigil for peace in Ukraine with the prayerful singing of the Akathist Hymn to the Mother of God.
May God bless Ukraine and it’s people as they want to live in peace and prosperity!
