10th anniversary of Bishop Bohdan Danylo’s episcopal ordination

On November 4, 2014, we marked the 10th anniversary of Bishop Bohdan Danylo’s episcopal ordination, which took place in Parma, Ohio.

- Bishop Bohdan was born in Poland and spent his early years in Przemyśl, where he began his theological studies at the Lublin Metropolitan Seminary and the University of Lublin.

- At 21, Bohdan emigrated with his family to the United States, where he continued his studies at St. Josaphat Seminary and the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC.

- Interestingly, Bishop Bohdan’s grandfather, Ivan Danylo, was born in Pittsburgh, PA, and later returned to Europe in 1909. Like many early immigrants, he was part of the first wave of migrants who returned home after working in America.

- After completing his theological studies in 1996, Bohdan Danylo was ordained by Bishop Vasyl Losten.

- Father Bohdan served at St. Basil's Seminary in Stamford, CT, for many years, where he held positions as prefect, vice-rector, and rector.

- Bishop Bohdan holds a licentiate in theology from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (Angelicum) in Rome and has also studied at St. Vladimir’s Theological Seminary in New York.

- For nearly a decade, Bishop Bohdan has chaired the Patriarchal Commission for Clergy, overseeing the formation of seminarians and ongoing priestly education.
