Sviachene: Celebrating Easter Together as One Family

During the Easter season, parishioners gather for a shared Easter breakfast called Sviachene. This tradition, which involves sharing blessed Easter basket items with family after the Easter liturgy, is a key part of the Resurrection celebration. As our parish is like one big family, the communal Sviachene brings everyone together to celebrate Easter.

Often, this feast includes a festive concert with speeches, singing, and sometimes dancing. The dinner for this celebration can be prepared by the parish sisterhood or by all the parishioners working together. Sometimes, Sviachene also serves a charitable purpose, raising funds for parish or community needs.

This wonderful tradition continues in our Archeparchy and Metropolia, bringing our parishes together like one big family to share the joy of Christ's Resurrection.

Here are some photos from our newspaper, The Way, showcasing different years of Sviachene celebrations in the parishes of our Metropolia.
