From September 29 to October 1, 2025, the financial team of the Philadelphia Archeparchy participated in the Diocesan Fiscal Management Conference (DFMC), which took place in Philadelphia. This conference brings together financial administrators of Catholic dioceses in the United States to share experiences, develop professional skills, and strengthen the Church’s ministry in the area of finance.
Participants of the conference discussed a wide range of topics, including seeking God in everyday and extraordinary life, the current state of the Catholic Church in the United States, and pressing financial issues facing Catholic institutions.
The representatives of the Philadelphia Archeparchy also met with staff of the financial office and clergy from Ukraine who took part in the conference. Also present were representatives of the Ukrainian Catholic Eparchies of Stamford and Chicago.
On Wednesday, the Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, who in his homily focused on the challenges faced by financial services and the whole Church, and on the hope given by the Word of God: “We pray for you, for your families and eparchies. I thank God for your ‘yes’ in serving Him and the Church in this difficult time for the financial life of our eparchies.”
The Metropolitan also called for prayers for Ukraine, which has been experiencing Russian aggression for the 12th year, and expressed gratitude for the continuous support of American Catholics: “I have just returned from my 14th visit to Ukraine since January 2022. And everywhere I go, before I leave, people say to me: ‘Please thank the Americans, thank the American Catholics.’ May God reward you a hundredfold for your solidarity and generosity.”
