On March 19, 2026, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak took part in the Solemn Mass of Installation of Bishop John S. Bonnici as the tenth Bishop of the Diocese of Rochester. The liturgical celebration was held at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Rochester, New York, and brought together bishops, clergy, religious, and faithful from across the region.
Bishop Bonnici, who previously served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of New York, was appointed to lead the Diocese of Rochester earlier this year. His installation took place during a Eucharistic celebration on the Solemnity of St. Joseph, formally marking the beginning of his pastoral ministry in the diocese.
Metropolitan Gudziak joined hierarchs of the Catholic Church in the United States in a sign of ecclesial communion and support for the local Church of Rochester as it welcomed its new bishop.
