On October 12, 2025, St. Mary’s Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church in Manassas, Virginia, celebrated its 100th anniversary with a Hierarchical Divine Liturgy and dinner. Celebrating the Liturgy were Metropolitan Borys Gudziak; the Very Reverend Taras Lonchyna, former pastor of 29 years; and the Reverend Alexander Dumenko, current pastor since 2016.
Approximately 100 former and current parishioners and their guests crowded into the small historic church on the outskirts of Manassas.
Following the Liturgy, everyone gathered for a buffet dinner, talks, and music at a local restaurant, Columbus Grill in Manassas. In addition to being honored by the presence of Metropolitan Borys, the parish was blessed with a choral performance by talented parishioner Iryna Bhushan and a piano recital by distinguished pianist Oksana Sukhachevska.
“St. Mary’s 100-year existence is a witness to the faithful’s persistence and determination to honor and celebrate their faith despite political and practical hardships. This spirit has been personified by past and current parishioners—many of whom are recent arrivals from Ukraine due to tragic current circumstances,” said Martha Stine, a parishioner of 24 years.
