Security as a Prerequisite for Recovery: Metropolitan Borys Gudziak Speaks at Panel Discussion in Rome

As part of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) taking place in Rome, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and Yalta European Strategy (YES) hosted a panel discussion titled "No Security – No Recovery."

The discussion was moderated by YES Board members Carl Bildt, former Minister for Foreign Affairs and Prime Minister of Sweden, and Sanna Marin, former Prime Minister of Finland. Among the panelists were: Victor Pinchuk, businessman, philanthropist, and founder of YES; Kristen Michal, Prime Minister of Estonia; Olha Stefanishyna, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine; the Minister of Justice of Ukraine; Giorgio Mulè, Vice President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies; Kaspar Veldkamp, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands; and Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia.

Metropolitan Borys emphasized the moral dimension of the war and its impact on the daily lives of Ukrainians:

“Ukrainians are standing their ground. They are making sacrifices, and all they are asking for is the world’s solidarity. I want to encourage you to do what is right, to do all you can, and not to regret it. You will never go wrong when you help someone in need. Today, Ukraine’s victory is necessary for the whole world. Everyone needs the protection of human dignity.”
