Clergy of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia Gather for Spring Conference

The Spring Conference of the priests of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia took place on May 18–20, 2026. The conference became an important time of common prayer, brotherly fellowship, discussion of current challenges in church ministry, and planning for the future development of the Archeparchy.

The conference began on May 18 with the arrival of the priests, who gathered for a shared dinner and the celebration of Vespers. This first evening provided a meaningful opportunity for fraternity among the clergy and spiritual preparation for the days of work and discussion that followed.

On May 19, the conference program was filled with presentations and discussions. One of the presentations was given by Fr. Volodymyr Klanichka, Dean of the Philadelphia Deanery, who emphasized the importance of developing and supporting the Knights of Columbus within the parishes of the Archeparchy. In his presentation, he highlighted their role in supporting parish life, charitable initiatives, and the formation of Christian male leadership.

Following this, representatives of Porter&Curtis presented information regarding the updated property insurance plan for the Archeparchy and explained changes related to insurance coverage and the future administration of insurance policies.

After lunch, the priests, together with Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak, discussed strategy and future plans based on the evangelization strategic session that took place in Philadelphia on April 22. The participants also heard a report and recommendations from the Ukrainian Catholic University regarding the results of this session and future directions for evangelization ministry within the Archeparchy.

Later, Metropolitan Borys announced new assignments within the Archeparchy, after which the clergy prayed Vespers together and continued their brotherly fellowship during dinner. On May 20, the priests had the opportunity to hear reports from various Archeparchial offices and departments. Presentations were given regarding the status of the Church tribunal, the Communications office, the Religious Education Ministry, the Youth Ministry, the Finance office, and the Social Outreach department. These reports helped the clergy become more familiar with the current areas of ministry within the Archeparchy and the challenges facing Church structures today.

At the conclusion of the conference, Metropolitan Borys thanked the priests for their dedicated ministry, sacrificial service, and participation in the conference. The gathering concluded with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, after which the priests returned to their places of ministry to continue their pastoral service in their parishes.
