On October 15, 2026, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, Archbishop of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, attended the 81st Annual Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation Dinner at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.
The annual charitable event, hosted for the first time by Archbishop Ronald A. Hicks of New York, brought together approximately 850 religious, political and business leaders. The dinner raises funds to support vulnerable women and children in the Archdiocese of New York.
During the evening, Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop Emeritus of New York, was recognized for his years of leadership and service, while New York City Police Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch received the Happy Warrior Award in recognition of her commitment to public service. Cardinal Dolan also delivered the keynote address.
At the event, Metropolitan Borys had the opportunity to discuss immigration issues with fellow bishops and meet with representatives of the Church and business community.
According to the organizers, this year's dinner raised approximately $6.4 million to support charitable initiatives serving women and children in need.
