Metropolitan Borys Gudziak Participates in President Zelenskyy’s Meeting with the Ukrainian Community in New York

On September 23 in New York, Metropolitan Borys Gudziak of Philadelphia participated in a meeting between President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and representatives and leaders of the Ukrainian community in the United States. Bishop Paul Chomnycky, OSBM, Eparch of Stamford, was also present at the meeting.

The gathering began with a moment of silence in memory of all those who have given their lives defending Ukraine and its independence.

During the meeting, participants discussed diplomatic efforts toward peace, the current situation in Ukraine, and the major challenges facing the country and the Ukrainian people amid the ongoing war.

Addressing those gathered, Metropolitan Borys shared his experience from his recent two-month stay in Ukraine and the many encounters he had with people in different parts of the country. He spoke about the resilience and determination of Ukrainians whom he met during his travels.

Metropolitan Borys noted that among the hundreds of people he spoke with during his time in Ukraine, not one said that Ukraine should surrender in the war. His remarks offered those gathered a firsthand perspective on the experiences and determination of people living through the war in Ukraine.

The meeting also highlighted the resilience of the Ukrainian people and the importance of continued support for Ukraine and Ukrainians during this critical time.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked members of the Ukrainian community in the United States for their continued assistance to Ukraine, their support for the Ukrainian people, and their efforts to ensure that Ukraine’s voice continues to be heard around the world.
