      Metropolitan Borys Visits the Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sayre, PA

      On Sunday, February 2, during the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, metropolitan Borys Gudziak made a pastoral visit to Ascension of Our Lord Ukrainian Catholic Church in Sayre, PA - the most northern parish of our Archeparchy. The parishioners warmly welcomed him and the children of the parish greeted him with bread and flowers.

      “The Church is where the Lord heals us, where we confess our sins, and receive the sacraments. But all of this is only possible through a personal encounter. That is why this feast is so important”, noted the Archbishop during his homily. 

      He also emphasized that Christianity is not merely a set of moral teachings or a philosophy but a living relationship with God:

      “We are created in God’s image and likeness. And what does that mean? What makes a person truly human? Relationships. God is a community of three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And we are called to live in community.”

      Following the Liturgy, parishioners and guests continued the celebration with a shared meal.
