“Resting One’s Head on the Heart of Jesus”: Meeting of the Galilee Community at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia

On September 27, the Galilee prayer community gathered at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Philadelphia for an evening of prayer and fellowship in the spirit of the Jubilee Year. Participants came not only from Pennsylvania but also from neighboring states and eparchies, giving the gathering a special sense of belonging to the wider Church family.

The evening began with the celebration of Vespers. Metropolitan Borys offered a reflection on God’s love, which he described as the reality most near to us. He recalled the image of Saint John the Theologian, the beloved disciple, who at the Mystical Supper rested his head upon the breast of Christ — a profound sign of intimacy with the Lord to which every Christian is called.

Many of the faithful also received the Holy Mystery of Repentance, reconciling themselves with God. Following prayer, the community shared in an agape meal and concluded the evening with heartfelt songs of praise.

Joining the faithful in prayer were Fr. Roman Pitula, Cathedral rector, together with Fr. Taras Lonchyna and Fr. Ruslan Borovyi.
