The principal of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary School was received into the Catholic Church.

We sincerely congratulate Mrs. Lissette Shumny, principal of the Assumption Catholic School in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, on her 50th birthday. Yet even more profound is the spiritual milestone she has reached — her response to the call to be received into the Catholic Church.

Though Mrs. Shumny was raised in a different faith tradition, she had long felt drawn to the Catholic Church. And on this special day, during the Jubilee Year of Hope, she responded to that call with great courage and grace. After months of spiritual preparation, she solemnly professed the Creed and was officially received into the Catholic Church. We are deeply proud of Mrs. Shumny’s journey of faith and the sincere and courageous “Yes” she has offered to Christ and His Church.

For many years, Mrs. Lissette has dedicated herself wholeheartedly to the education of children and the growth of the school community at the Assumption Catholic School. Her work, dedication, and kindness are a true testament to the love she brings to her vocation.
