Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia Announces Expanded Matching Initiative with Potential $500,000 Impact

PHILADELPHIA — October 7, 2026. The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia seeks to raise $250,000 through its 2026 “Growing the Good News” campaign, with an additional $250,000 in matching funds designated for humanitarian assistance in Ukraine.

The campaign benefits the Archeparchy’s New Priest and Personnel Initiative, an investment in the priests and professional staff needed to strengthen the Archeparchy's pastoral and administrative ministry.

The first of two “Growing the Good News” Reporting & Benefit Soirées, hosted by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, was held October 3 at the Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey in Whippany. Clergy, parishioners, friends, and supporters gathered to hear a report on the Archeparchy’s work and priorities as well as to contribute toward its fundraising goal.

In response to the generosity and commitment already demonstrated by the community, the two anonymous donors increased their original matching pledge, with a third donor joining the effort. As a result, every dollar contributed to the campaign will now be matched up to $250,000.

The matching gift will benefit the Healing of Wounds of the War in Ukraine Fund of the Ukrainian Catholic Metropolia of Philadelphia, which provides humanitarian assistance to those continuing to endure the consequences of the war. If the full goal is reached, the initiative will generate a combined $500,000 — $250,000 for the Archeparchy’s New Priest and Personnel Initiative and $250,000 for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

The second Reporting & Benefit Soirée will take place Saturday, October 17, in Philadelphia. Those unable to attend are invited to contribute. Every gift brings the Archeparchy closer to its goal while unlocking an equal amount of assistance for people affected by the war in Ukraine.
