This September, Saint Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Seminary in Washington, D.C., will celebrate its 85th anniversary. For generations, the Seminary has been one of the stones upon which the Ukrainian Catholic Church in the United States has been built and a cradle of the Ukrainian Byzantine tradition in America.
Saint Josaphat Seminary is the alma mater of 145 dedicated priests who have devotedly ministered to the faithful throughout the United States. Among its distinguished alumni are 11 bishops of our Church, including the past Father and Head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, His Beatitude Lubomyr Cardinal Husar.
Today, the Seminary houses the St. Gabriel Institute, which serves the global Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church by providing fellows from Ukraine, the United States, and other countries with the skills needed to represent and advocate for our Church.
In February 2026, a major window replacement project began at Saint Josaphat Seminary to improve the building's energy efficiency.
This initiative is a joint effort of all four Ukrainian Catholic eparchies in the United States, led by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk, Bishop Paul Chomnycky, and Bishop Bohdan Danylo.
As we celebrate the Seminary's jubilee year, we invite you to support this important renovation project and help replace 172 aging windows.
Join Ukrainian Catholics across the United States in reaching our goal of raising the remaining $383,188 needed to complete this work.
Donations of any amount are deeply appreciated. Individuals or parishes who contribute $3,000 - the cost of replacing one window - will be recognized on a special commemorative plaque permanently displayed at the Seminary.
