“Family – God’s Gift”: Children’s Christian Camp Held at the Basilian Sisters Monastery

From July 27-31, the Basilian Sisters Monastery in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, hosted a children's Christian camp titled "Family – God's Gift." This year, the camp brought together more than 40 children and 15 counselors from various Ukrainian parishes.

Each day was filled with prayer, faith formation, engaging workshops, exciting scavenger hunts, games, and opportunities to build new friendships. Throughout the week, the children learned that family is a precious gift from God — one to be loved, cherished, and protected.

The camp was held under the spiritual guidance of Fr. Roman Oliinyk, pastor of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Parish, at the Basilian Sisters Spiritual Center, directed by Sister Dia Zahurska, OSBM. The children were also accompanied by Sister Markiiana Kazmir, OSBM, Sister Martyna Kunitska, OSBM (from Ukraine), Sister Anna Andrusiv, OSBM, Sister Korneliia Zhupnyk, OSBM, and Brother Darko Kernytskyi, whose care and dedication made the week a truly memorable experience for every participant.

The organizers express their sincere gratitude to the Basilian Sisters, especially Mother Provincial Sister Anna Liashok, OSBM, for their love, hospitality, care, and devoted service. Thanks to their generosity and commitment, the camp became a place where children not only enjoyed a joyful and memorable week but also strengthened their faith, deepened their appreciation for the gift of family, and grew closer to God and to one another.
