Ukrainian Ukraine House Hosts 34th Independence Day Celebration in the U.S. Capital

On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, the Ukrainian Embassy in Washington, D.C., hosted its annual celebration of Ukrainian Independence Day at Ukraine House. The event was attended by members of various embassies across the capital, political leaders at both the federal and local levels, representatives of organizations and communities supporting Ukraine, members of the Ukrainian community in Washington, D.C., and clergy from the Ukrainian Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant Churches.

Archbishop Timothy Broglio, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, was among the distinguished guests.

Oksana Markarova, Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, expressed her gratitude to all friends of Ukraine who came to celebrate the 34th anniversary of Ukraine's independence and who continue to stand with the Ukrainian people during the ongoing full-scale invasion.

Members of the Ukrainian Embassy, along with guests at Ukraine House—including Ms. Muriel Bowser, Mayor of Washington, D.C.—took the opportunity to thank Ambassador Markarova for her service, as she is set to conclude her term as Ambassador on Friday, September 12.
