Archbishop Borys Gudziak visited the Holy Family Eparchy in London during January 26-30, taking part in different activities over the course of his stay.
On January 26 he joined the World Day of Prayer for Peace in Ukraine from Westminster Cathedral in the presence of His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols, Archbishop of Westminster and Head of the Catholic Church in the UK; the Apostolic Nuncio His Excellency Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, representative of the Holy Father to the UK; Bishop Kenneth Nowakowski, head of the Eparchy of the Holy Family; as well as Ukrainian Catholic clergy and faithful.
On January 27 Archbishop Borys discussed the current situation in Ukraine in the context of a public event organized by the Ukrainian Institute in London titled, “Overcoming Fear and Anguish with Hope: How to Cope with Putin’s Aggression.”
“We are all living in a time of tension: populism, post-truth approaches, discord among allies, division of societies, progressive loss of common denominators that make language understandable and a meaningful instrument of communication,” stressed the Metropolitan.
He shared with participants reflections about the events in Ukraine and how our hope in the Lord and in those around us can help overcome fear. “Peace can be preserved and freedom and dignity will be fostered.”
After preliminary remarks the Archbishop opened up the floor for questions, reflections, and the exchange of opinions. Please watch the video of the event.
