On January 20, 2025, Archbishop Borys Gudziak participated in a dinner hosted by Bishop Joseph Bambera of Scranton during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (January 18–25). The event gathered Catholic and Orthodox clergy from the region to foster dialogue and fellowship.
In his brief remarks, Archbishop Gudziak expressed gratitude for Bishop Bambera's hospitality, saying, “We live in a time of bombast and brutality, of splash and vulgarity, and the graciousness of this evening and the conversation is really a balm on the bruises we all have.”
He also reflected on the divisions among Christians, calling them “the biggest scandal in our witness that we who speak in the name of Jesus have separated.” Archbishop Gudziak concluded with a hopeful message, adding, “An evening like today and the fellowship that you offered us kindles that desire, and I hope we can go with it, each in our little way, to try to never widen the fissures, to be open, be tolerant, be forgiving.”
