Assumption Catholic School in Perth Amboy, NJ will join nearly 8,000 other parochial and private Catholic schools across the nation in celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Parents and prospective students, preschool through grade eighth grade, are invited to the Open House on Sunday, February 6, 12:30 – 3:30 pm.
Attendees will be able to tour the school and speak with our pastor, principal, religious sisters, as well as current students who will be assisting with tours. Registrations for the 2022-2023 school year will be accepted at these sessions. It’s never too early to start thinking about giving your children the great gift of a Catholic education–one that is both effective and affordable! We are very proud to report that all classrooms have Promethean Boards and that we are Cognia certified.
Those unable to make the Open House should feel free to call the office to set up a tour on a different day. Our principal, Mrs. Lisette Shumny, is always more than happy to do walk-throughs with interested families and answer any questions!
Catholic Schools Week got off to a great start with some ACS trivia shared by Mrs. Lawrence. Did you know that the school opened in 1963? Did you also know that our dear Sister Yosaphata was one of the first faculty members? In fact, she was part of the team that opened the school and then Sister Josaphata faithfully served here for 55 years! Eighth graders India Lillie and Gabbie D. shared what ACS has meant to them and what they love about the school–thank you Gabby and India-Lillie for your beautiful words!
The middle school was treated to a midmorning snack of bagels and muffins along with milk, juice, and hot chocolate. This gave them the energy needed to participate in the first round of the annual game of Jeopardy. But that’s not all…fifth graders made pretzel treats and fourth graders had muffins too for Magazine Monday.
FSA provided a McDonald’s lunch to pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade students.
Students also started “CSW Post it!” by posting reasons why they love their teachers on classroom doors.
