On Saturday, March 22, 2025, the faithful gathered at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Assumption in Perth Amboy, NJ, to celebrate a special day dedicated to the precious institution of the family. Family Day, held during the Jubilee Year of Hope, was a beautiful expression of unity and love for God and one another.
The day began with a Moleben to St. Joseph, the patron saint of families, fathers, and workers. St. Joseph is revered as a powerful intercessor who offers guidance and protection to families. The Moleben was followed by a Candlelight Ceremony, during which participants reflected on the blessings of family life.
A highlight of the day was Rev. Ivan's talk on “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph as a Model for All Christian Families,” which offered valuable insights for families to deepen their faith and commitment to one another. After the talk, the parish family enjoyed a delicious meal of pizza and fruits thoughtfully prepared by the parents.
The Sisters Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara organized various educational and recreational activities for the youth, teenagers, and parents. Mother Veronica, Sr. Svitanku, and Sr. Trijtsi gathered the youth, teenagers, and their parents in the church hall for a tournament with various games. Competitions, games, and entertainment filled the space with joyful laughter and activity. At the end, the children and adults sang “We Are Family.”
