Clergy of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia Gather for Annual Conference at Sandy Cove Center

From May 20 to 22, 2025, the clergy of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia convened for their annual conference at the Sandy Cove Center in North East, Maryland.

The conference began on Tuesday evening with an address by Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, who opened the gathering with updates and reflections on the ministries and activities of the Archeparchy.

Wednesday and Thursday sessions were dedicated to various aspects of the Archeparchy’s ministry. Wednesday morning focused on financial stewardship, with John Drozd presenting the financial report. Social Outreach Director Marta Rubel spoke on the Archeparchy’s work with refugees and recent migrants. Mariana Karapinka covered communication initiatives, Maria Ivaniv-Lonchyna provided updates from the archives, and Sofia Zacharczuk, Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, shared updates on fundraising efforts and upcoming fundraising and pastoral events.

Rev. Ostap Mykytchyn reported on the activities of the youth ministry. Rev. Iouri Koslovski followed with an update on the work of the St. Gabriel Institute. Rev. Volodymyr Radko shared insights into vocations ministry, and Sean McLaughlin presented on safe environment policies and compliance requirements.

On Thursday, Rev. Mykola Dziurakh reported on the efforts of the religious education department, and Rev. Roman Oliinyk addressed the psychological and pastoral challenges of the war in Ukraine, as well as the role of the Metropolitan Fund “Healing the Wounds of the War in Ukraine” in supporting these efforts.
