He was born on April 7, 1975, in the town of Khyriv in the Lviv region. After studying at the Holy Spirit Seminary in Rudno and St. Josaphat Seminary in Washington, as well as at The Catholic University of America, he was ordained a deacon on March 25, 2000. Later that year, on September 23, he received priestly ordination from Metropolitan Stephen Sulyk.
Throughout his ministry, Father Petro has served in parishes in Elizabeth, NJ, Shenandoah, Richmond, and Manassas, and since 2016 he has been leading the parishes in Frackville.
Metropolitan Borys in his greeting letter remarked that "Father Petro’s decision to respond to the Lord’s call and follow His vocation matured at a time when our Church in Ukraine, inspired by the witness of the martyrs, was emerging from the underground. May their dedication and steadfast faith continue to be a guiding light in his priestly service".
