Holodomor Exhibit Opens in DC

On Tuesday, November 16, a special Holodomor exhibit was opened at the Ukraine House in Washington, DC. The exhibit is organized by the Ukraine House and the US-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) with the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA.

The Exhibit, “Holodomor: Through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists, 1932-1933,” contains paintings, graphics, linocuts, posters, and other artwork by leading Ukrainian artists who were brave enough to use their talents to show visually the genocide committed against Ukrainians. “We are delighted to present at the Ukraine House in Washington, DC this unique collection of artworks about the tragedy of the Holodomor in Ukraine. It’s very moving and heartbreaking,” said Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova.

“‘Holodomor: Through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists’ is a collection of over 250 original artworks gathered in Ukraine largely during the years of 1997-2000. We are pleased that the artworks in the exhibition are being shown in Washington for the first time,” said Morgan Williams, President of the US-Ukraine Business Council.

“We mourn every life lost during the Holodomor and do everything to protect our independence from Russian aggression and establish ourselves as a nation of well-armed farmers, whom no one will ever be able to deprive of their own country,” wrote Oksana Markarova on her Facebook page.

The Holodomor exhibit will be open from Tuesday, November 16th through Friday, December 3rd.
