As a trustee of the Ukrainian History Global Initiative, Archbishop Borys moderated several workshops, focusing on religious culture, the history of Christianity in Ukraine, and aspects of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The Initiative is an ambitious new project in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. Its goal is to create a comprehensive, scholarly, yet accessible presentation of the deep history of the lands of contemporary Ukraine and the diverse peoples who have inhabited them. By fostering dialogue across disciplines, the project seeks to develop an innovative model of synthetic public history for Ukraine and the wider world.
Metropolitan Borys also took part in the Yalta European Strategy (YES) conference, an international platform that has been convening global leaders from politics, business, media, civil society, and academia since 2004. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy attanded the conference. He thanked all attendees for their support and expressed special gratitude to President of Finland Alexander Stubb and U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine General Keith Kellogg, who also participated in the meeting.
This year, metropolitan Borys moderated a conversation with Ukrainian soldiers who had recently returned from Russian captivity, asking them what sustained them during their ordeal and how they managed to resist despair.
