Prayer for Pope Francis in Rome: Metropolitan Borys Concelebrates with Patriarch Sviatoslav

On April 27, 2025, Thomas Sunday—the day after the funeral of Pope Francis—Metropolitan Borys Gudziak concelebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Rome with the Father and Head of our Church, Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk, and Bishop Mykola Cardinal Bychok, Eparch of Melbourne.

At the conclusion of the Liturgy, His Beatitude Sviatoslav noted that the Roman Church was beginning nine days of prayer for the late Pope Francis, after which a conclave would be held to elect a new pope. The Patriarch called on the faithful to accompany not only the soul of the late Holy Father in prayer, but also all the cardinals who are to discern God's will and choose the successor of the Apostle Peter.

After the Divine Liturgy, all present prayed together for the repose of Pope Francis.
