Seven participants of the Transfiguration House, who are currently recovering from alcohol addiction, briefly told Metropolitan Borys how their dependence developed, what prompted them to seek help, and how they live soberly today.
They testified how God and the Transfiguration House program, which is based on the spiritual “12 Steps” program, saved and transformed their lives. They also explained how their relationships with God, their families, and other people have completely changed.
All those who shared emphasized that they had never expected their lives could change so positively and expressed gratitude to God, to the participants of the Transfiguration House, to the Church, and to Metropolitan Borys for the support and help they received.
Metropolitan Borys expressed his gratitude to the participants for their testimonies, sincerity, and authenticity, and encouraged them to share their experiences of recovery and conversion with others.
More than 30 sober alcoholics — priests, monks, and seminarians — took part in the meeting.
The mission of the Transfiguration House, founded in May 2018, is to provide information, training, experience, support in recovery, and necessary care to ensure the best possible conditions for holistic healing, health, and spiritual renewal for priests, monks, nuns, and seminarians of the UGCC who suffer from alcoholism and other addictions.
