From September 5 to 7, 2025, our archivist and researcher, Dr. Maria Ivaniv Lonchyna, participated in the international conference The Legacies of Nicaea I and Vatican II: An Inheritance Unfolding, held at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.

During the conference, she gave a presentation entitled “Consensus Fidelium: Reception of the Decree Orientalium Ecclesiarum and the Ukrainian Greco-Catholic Church’s Synod of Bishops after Vatican II.”

In her paper, she spoke about the formation of the UGCC’s Synod after Vatican II in the 1960s and 1970s and how the Decree on the Eastern Catholic Churches influenced this process. In her presentation, Dr. Ivaniv Lonchyna also used materials and photos from our archeparchial archive.
