Shooting at Minneapolis Annunciation Catholic School on Wednesday, August 27th, leaves 2 children dead and 17 people injured.
Archbishop Borys Gudziak in a letter to Archbishop Bernard Hebda, Archbishop of Saint Paul and Minneapolis expressed his condolences and assurance of prayer. "Having traveled through wartime Ukraine, I assure you of my prayers for the victims, the injured, the students, the parents, the teachers, the parishioners, all the faithful of the Archdiocese, and the people of Minneapolis. May the Lord receive into His Kingdom the innocent who have been slaughtered. May He heal the injured and assuage the pain of all who have been wounded and traumatized by this senseless act of violence,” wrote the metropolitan.
Assumption Ukrainian Catholic School in Perth Amboy, NJ stated their support on official Facebook page, joining in prayer and solidarity with the grieving community.
"Our hearts are broken by this tragic act of violence. We pray for the victims, their families, and all who are grieving. In this time of sorrow, may Christ’s light bring comfort and peace. We stand together as one family of faith,” read the brief statement.
Pope Leo XIV expresses his condolences following the tragedy: "While commending the souls of the deceased children to the love of Almighty God, His Holiness prays for the wounded as well as the first responders, medical personnel, and clergy who are caring for them and their loved ones."
