575 Participants Join “TPS in Focus” Webinar on the Future of Temporary Protected Status for Ukrainians in the U.S.

On August 20, 2026, the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia hosted the webinar “TPS in Focus,” dedicated to the current situation surrounding Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ukrainians in the United States. A total of 575 participants joined the webinar.

The webinar took place at an important time for Ukrainians in the United States. The current TPS designation for Ukraine is set to expire on October 19, 2026, and the question of whether it will be extended or terminated remains a significant concern for thousands of Ukrainians.

Three immigration law professionals took part in the expert discussion: Olha Khomyak, Svitlana M. Iva-Ugryn, and Iryna Mazur.

Olha Khomyak is the founder and managing attorney of Khomyak Law PLLC, a New York-based law firm specializing in immigration law and serving individuals, families, professionals, and businesses throughout the United States. With more than a decade of legal experience, she practices exclusively in U.S. immigration law. Her work includes family- and employment-based immigration, humanitarian relief, adjustment of status, naturalization, and removal defense.

Svitlana M. Iva-Ugryn is the founder and lead attorney of Ugryn Law LLC, a Chicago-based law firm specializing in immigration and family law. Her practice focuses on key areas of immigration law, including humanitarian protection, family- and employment-based immigration, removal defense, and the preparation of complex applications and petitions before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Iryna Mazur is an attorney, partner and founder of Mazur Law Firm, PC, and the Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Philadelphia. Her professional experience encompasses a broad range of immigration matters, including family-based, business, and investment immigration, consular processing, international adoption, and asylum cases. In July 2019, Iryna Mazur was appointed Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Philadelphia.

During the webinar, the experts discussed how a decision regarding TPS could directly affect Ukrainians in the United States who currently hold this status. They examined possible scenarios, potential benefits and risks, as well as next steps depending on how the situation develops. In a discussion format, the speakers explored in detail the key issues currently facing Ukrainians with TPS in the United States.

The strong participation of 575 attendees highlighted the importance of TPS-related issues and the need among Ukrainians in the United States for timely and reliable information on immigration matters.

A recording of the “TPS in Focus” webinar is available for those who were unable to join the event live or would like to revisit the experts’ discussion.
