Metropolitan Borys Joins Historic First Mass at Restored Notre Dame Cathedral

On December 8, the solemn consecration of the altar at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris marked a historic moment as the first liturgy in the restored sanctuary was celebrated. Hundreds of Catholic bishops from around the world attended the event, including Metropolitan Borys Gudziak of Philadelphia, who previously served in the Eparchy of Saint Volodymyr the Great in Paris from 2012 to 2019.

Representatives from every Catholic parish in Paris were invited to the liturgy, including delegates from the Cathedral of St. Volodymyr the Great of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The delegation was led by Bishop Hlib Lonchyna, Apostolic Administrator of the Eparchy of Saint Volodymyr.
