History helps us understand the past. And the past helps us understand the present.
The Archeparchy of Philadelphia is thrilled to announce a new project, A Church of Witness: The Ukrainian Catholic Story with Metropolitan Borys Gudziak. This series explores the history of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, one of the 23 Eastern Catholic Churches, and the only institution with a thousand-year trajectory in Ukraine’s history.
Today, in the United States, the Ukrainian Catholic Church includes four eparchies:
Archeparchy of Philadelphia (Metropolitan Borys Gudziak);
Eparchy of Stamford (Bishop Paul Chomnycky);
Eparchy of Saint Josaphat in Parma (Bishop Bohdan Danylo);
Eparchy of Saint Nicholas in Chicago (Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk).
And there are 36 eparchies worldwide — 16 in Ukraine and 20 outside of Ukraine.
In the coming weeks and months, we will share with our followers a millennial story—how God is at work among His people in Ukraine and beyond, and how this history helps us better understand the events of today. Metropolitan Borys Gudziak, a Church historian, will guide us on this journey, helping us explore new horizons in the understanding of our legacy.
